Ratings: Suits season 7, Nashville season 5, and TNT’s Will

Let’s begin this Sunday ratings article with some great news for Suits  season 7 — through two episodes, it’s holding firm!

This past episode, which featured the arrival of Dule Hill as Alex Williams, ended up drawing in total a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That matches almost perfectly what the show managed to pull in for the premiere episode. While we’re still down year-to-year versus last season, it’s actually scoring slightly better numbers than it did when it aired in the winter earlier this year.

One thing we do wonder is if Suits keeps going, will it consider lowering its episode count to thirteen episodes and airing all of them in the summer? This show seems to consistently draw better numbers here, and then its sheds viewers who don’t catch it during the winter months and don’t end up coming back for more. Given how much we love this show, we’re clearly intent on it getting however many viewers that it possibly can.

Now, let’s dive into some other ratings news items for the past few days…

Nashville  – The CMT series aired one of the most-depressing episodes in recent memory earlier in the week, but there was a little bit in the way of good news in the ratings. The most-recent episode generated overall a 0.2 rating, up slightly from the show’s series-low outing the week before. It also recovered in getting itself over 710,000 viewers. We’re nearing the end of the season now, and this is the time we want to see the show starting to get a jump up in the numbers as they prepare a little bit further for season 6, which has already been renewed and there’s nothing to worry about that ultimately here.

Will – For one reason or another, Shakespeare just isn’t drawing big viewership at the moment. Still Star-Crossed failed to get things going over on ABC, and here, the show is posting some rather forgettable numbers so far on TNT. It posted a 0.2 for its most-recent episode, but the big difference between it and Nashville is that the latter has a great streaming deal with CMT and is in its sixth season. Will  doesn’t have any of those advantages and could easily still fall. We do hope it stays consistent so that it does have a fighting chance for more.
