Laurence Fishburne Unsure He’ll Be Back In DC Universe In The Future

If you managed to make it out to the theaters this past weekend, you may have noticed that one Laurence Fishburne had hopped over from the DC Extended Universe to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in their latest film, Ant-Man and the Wasp. He played the character of Bill Foster — Goliath, as those comic book-faithful folks know — someone who could ultimately continue to play a large role down the line…but what does that mean for his future in the DCEU?

Fishburne’s Perry White has been one of the better parts of the DC films — at least those he’s been a part of, for as little screen time as he gets — and it’s hard to imagine them continuing on with telling Superman stories, right? Well, maybe not. Speaking with Den of Geek, Fishburne cast some doubt on the potential for him to return to the DCEU, saying:

“I don’t think I’m still on call. I was unfortunately unable to go do some work on what turned out to be the Justice League movie. I don’t know that I need to go back or if they’ll have me back or not, but I was grateful to have been a part of it. I loved working with Zack (Snyder), I think he makes an incredible superhero movie. I’m just excited to be a part of this (the MCU) now.”

Then, when asked if he knew whether or not he had any info on an in-development Man of Steel 2, he said:

“I don’t. I don’t. I haven’t heard anything about it. They just fell behind the eight-ball. I really wish they had started 20 years ago. But that’s all right, they’re where they are.”

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Actors are usually the last to know about these movies. While, right now, Fishburne may know nothing, he may very well hear something in the coming months that proves otherwise. If we’ve learned nothing over the years, it’s that the DCEU is a living, breathing beast that changes with the tide, so there’s no telling where it’ll end up or go next.
