Resident Evil 2: All Medallion Statue Locations and Puzzle Solutions in the Police Station

In Resident Evil 2, one of the first major tasks you’ll face in the Raccoon City Police Department is collecting three Medallions — Lion, Unicorn, and Maiden — and using them to access a secret underground passage. Each Medallion is hidden inside a statue and can only be obtained by solving a corresponding puzzle. These early-game objectives are key to escaping the station and progressing in both Leon and Claire’s campaigns.

While you’ll likely encounter the Medallions during your natural exploration of the station, it’s easy to miss one or forget the exact symbol sequence needed to unlock it. This guide lays out each statue’s location and the solution to its puzzle, making it easier to complete this step and move forward.

How the Medallion Statue Puzzles Work

Each of the three statues — Lion, Unicorn, and Maiden — has a rotating dial with three symbols. The correct combinations for these puzzles can be found in the Officer’s Notebook, which you pick up near the beginning of the game in the East Office. This notebook shows a sketch of each statue with the symbols required to solve them. If you’d rather not check the notebook repeatedly, we’ve listed each solution below.

Lion Medallion: Location and Puzzle Solution

Location: Main Hall, 2nd Floor (2F)
When You Can Reach It: Immediately after entering the Police Station

As soon as you arrive in the station, you can access the Lion Statue. It’s located on a platform above the main entrance, easily visible once you reach the second floor of the Main Hall.

Solution: Lion, Branch, Bird

Enter these symbols on the statue’s dial to reveal the Lion Medallion.

Unicorn Medallion: Location and Puzzle Solution

Location: Lounge, 1st Floor (1F)
When You Can Reach It: After entering the Library and moving through the southern door

The Unicorn Statue is tucked away in a small room adjacent to the Library. Once you’ve entered the Library from the Main Hall, take the door to the south to find the Lounge where the statue is located.

Solution: Fish, Scorpion, Jug

Input the correct symbols and the Unicorn Medallion will become available.

Maiden Medallion: Location and Puzzle Solution

Location: West Storage Room, 3rd Floor (3F)
When You Can Reach It: After obtaining the C4 Detonator

Accessing the Maiden Statue takes a bit more effort. First, you’ll need to collect the Spade Key, which opens access to new areas of the station. After reaching the Courtyard and collecting the Detonator, head to the West Storage Room on the third floor. Use the C4 to blast open the blocked section containing the statue.

Solution: Woman, Bow, Snake

After solving the puzzle, the Maiden Medallion will be yours.

What To Do With the Medallions

Once you have all three Medallions — Lion, Unicorn, and Maiden — return to the Main Hall on the first floor (1F). In the center of the hall is the Goddess Statue. Insert each Medallion into its respective slot at the base of the statue. This will unlock a hidden passage leading to the Underground Facility, pushing the story forward into the next phase of your escape from Raccoon City.
